Home Away From Home : Palais Coburg Hotel

This week while browsing through one of my favorite blogs This Is Glamorous, we fell upon a magnificent article about the Palais Coburg Hotelk in Vienna, Austria. Designed in 1839 by architect Karl Schleps in the Neoclassical Style (the only style to live in) the palace was built by Prince Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1840 to 1845.

The Palace’s last private owner was Princess Aurelia of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, who lived there with her family.

In November 2003, the palace was restored to its former glory and reopened as a luxury hotel!

Known as Lauren Conrad’s ‘sidekick’ from The Hills, Whitney Port has now made a name for herself in the fashion industry. The designer of Whitney Eve, opens her bohemian Venice loft to showcase several different textiles and a plethora of colors and patterns.

This week we came across the backyard makeover from DomaineHome.com of the ‘glee‘ful actress Dianna Agron. She showed us her take on the backyard get together. My favorite thing are the white peacock wicker chairs at the table ends (and her black matte oven).

This month in Elle Decor, Ann Pyne, head of one of America’s oldest and most distinguished design firms, gives old-school decorating a surprising new relevance. Our favorite room is by far the Formal Living Room with the draped curtains, chandelier, and the art deco mirror! When can we move in?

Home Away From Home : F. Scott Fitzgerald Suite

The Fitzgerald Suite in New York City’s Plaza Hotel was designed by the Oscar winning costume and production designer Catherine Martin of 2013’s The Great Gatsby (only fitting). The linens in the suite are embroidered with Jay Gatsby’s monogram, which is locked inside a daisy motif representing his long lost love. This suite is stocked with vintage board games and custom made Tiffany & Co. playing cards (F. Scott Fitzgerald was one of their biggest clients). Take a tour of the modern 1920’s!
