Home Away From Home : Ann Pyne

This month in Elle Decor, Ann Pyne, head of one of America’s oldest and most distinguished design firms, gives old-school decorating a surprising new relevance. Our favorite room is by far the Formal Living Room with the draped curtains, chandelier, and the art deco mirror! When can we move in?

Home Away Home : Brad Goreski

It’s obvious my love for this man, he is the prince of fashion! He has worked with Rachel Zoe (I DIE!)  and has launched his own styling company with several big name clients. Not to mention he is the brand stylist for my favorite ready to wear company kate spade! So with a life as stylish as his who wouldn’t want to peek into his home!! The only thing missing from this…his gorgeous boyfriend!!

Home Away From Home : Lauren Conrad

You may know Lauren Conrad from her ‘American Sweetheart’ role on Laguna Beach, or her independent driven work ethic on The Hills, or from her many style books and novels, or possibly from her many clothing lines such as Paper Crown and LC Lauren Conrad (at Kohl’s). But whatever it may be, bottom line is everyone knows this woman!!! Recently married to William Tell (swoon) Lauren is settled in her Beverly Hills penthouse with a life that seems to perfect!!! For me she can do no wrong! She recently opened up her home to InStyle magazine for a peek at how the fashionista/reality star/author lives.

Home Away From Home

It only makes sense to explore the home of Sophia Bush with her season two premiere of Chicago P.D. last week! Not only is she an amazing actress, fashionista, and activist, but she also has amazing home decor taste (not fair) not to mention she’s gorgeous (how does one get dimples like those!)  Below is a peek into her three-bedroom two bath home in the hills. Between filming on location for NBCs Chicago PD and globetrotting with Pencils of Promise, and other organizations like DoSomething.org it’s no wonder the actress found lithe time to settle into her Hollywood hills home. Bought in 2010, it wasn’t until last year that Sophia enlisted the help of the Domaine editors Estee Stanley and Mat Sanders to transform her space into a sociable home.

Home Away From Home : John Mayer

Reminiscing at the older spread of Elle Decor where Mr. John Mayer lets us take a look in his 2,500-square-foot apartment in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood. “If my apartment could make me feel the way I do in Mr. Armani’s suits, life would be really wonderful.” Mayer recalls thinking when he bought his SoHo spread. With that the Armani/Casa design team agreed to help. “I wanted to create a sophisticated environment for John,” the fashion icon says, “one that will bring as much pleasure to him as his music brings to us.”

Reminiscing on one of my favorite homes from Vogue a few years back. Designer, Erin Fetherston moved to New York in 2007 and wanted a similar old-world charm from her apartment in France (where she lived for five years). Fetherston found a loft overlooking the Hudson River in Tribeca. The loft has high-ceilings and massive windows decorated with the perfect pair of curtains (swoon).

Fetherston shipped her beloved antique and vintage furniture across the ocean and finally started the decorating process. “I spent a lot of time in this big apartment with almost no furniture.” -Erin Fetherston

“It’s romantic and chic, but clean and modern,” Fetherston says, “I see it as a reflection of my creative universe.” This home is definitely beautiful, my favorite is the color palette, soft with accents of color with the fresh flowers! What’s your favorite home?

Nothing is more interesting to me than seeing people’s homes. It’s a way to view their lifestyle, family, and color palette all in one place. (you might even get a peek into their closets “fingers crossed”. I have always dreamed of owning and decorating my own home, I have thought about this since I was little. Most young girls plan their wedding colors and dress options, but me, I plan my Modern day Victorian home with a touch of new deco moldings in every room. So obviously I love when celebrities (who have THE best homes) give tours of their apartments/condos/houses/vacation homes (and whatever else tickles their fancy).

In this month’s issue of Elle, designer Lela Rose, opened up her Long Eddy, New York home. The house is obviously gorgeous (duh!) with a slightly darker, sharper look. Rose calls the home a “very Frank Lloyd Wright” look which enticed the family to move two hours northwest of Manhattan. With a home like this, I wouldn’t complain leaving Manhattan! (just make weekend trips down).
